2017 Update: these Paleo Chocolate Chip Cookies are the BOMB, and one of my favorite/your favorite recipes on the site. You guys seriously LOVE this one, and I don’t blame you. They’re so good. But…they also needed a photo update, so I’m republishing the post with the new photos! Unfortunately, I’m long out of college, but leaving the original post written below for nostalgia’s sake. I have been a chef for many years and had to go paleo due to health issues so I felt like I was missing out on cookies! I have to say these were the best choc chip gluten free cookies I have ever eaten felt like I was eating gluten cookies if not better! I followed the recipe to the letter I used unrefined coconut oil but I just wanted to ask what type of coconut oil do you use for this recipe refined or unrefined? Also can you use less coconut sugar? I love them as they are just thought to ask for other people sake some like less sweet things :) thanks a ton for this recipe your a blessing :)

These tomatoes are filled with the irresistible taste of buffalo chicken. Even though chicken wings are easy to make on the Paleo diet, it’s still a good idea to even them out by eating a vegetable along with them. Here you can get the taste of buffalo wings but in bite size form, with no bones, and no need to supplement it because the tomato has you covered. Plus you’re getting all of the benefits that come from eating tomatoes, and this snack will hold you over for quite some time.
Here’s a great game day dip that you can serve up and feel like you’re having a real treat. Use one of the chip recipes on this page to scoop up this flavorful dip. It’s a sure winner when bacon and bleu cheese join spinach and artichokes. It’s like taken a proven success and adding two more delicious ingredients to it. You may want to drop the bleu cheese if you know for certain that you can’t handle any cheese, but many Paleo eaters will make an exception for a bit of cheese on occasion.
That means eating meat and animal products from animals raised in the most natural (or wild) conditions, eating plenty of varied vegetables and smaller amounts of fruit, nuts and seeds, and not being shy in adding generous amounts of healthy, stable fats to our fresh meats and produce. It also means staying away from grains, processed foods, and compounds that have been modified beyond recognition.
These are great! I do a lot of gf baking but usually use a gf flour mix (like Bob’s) so was curious about how these would be. Love them. Not too sweet (like so many desserts are) but definitely sweet enough. I used 1/2 butter and 1/2 coconut oil (because I like the richness butter adds, and was low on coconut oil) and texture was perfect (I love that they aren’t greasy like a lot of choc chip cookies.) And I doubled the recipe because when I make cookies I like to have lots! Toddler approved:-)
These could possibly be my favorite cookie, ever. I love chocolate and peppermint together. They are so easy to make that my daughter makes them all the time. They have to be baked or cooked at all. The hardest part is waiting for them to cool and set in the frig for an hour. The candy canes are just for show because they aren’t Paleo. You can get all the peppermint flavor you need with the peppermint essential oil. If you aren’t 100% strict Paleo, go ahead and add a little bit of peppermint candy; I won’t tell anyone.
Unless a package of beef jerky says it’s Paleo, it’s best to make it on your own, and this recipe will walk you through the process. She’s come up with the perfect blend of spices and the right method for how to get the meat just right. You won’t want to go back to store bought jerky once you make a batch of this. You get to do quality control, choosing lean cuts of sirloin to make it. Then add the spices and seasoning like garlic powder and onion powder. Red wine even makes an appearance, and you’ll be happily surprised at the finished product.

I just made these for the first time and they are INCREDIBLE!! The only major modification I made was adding half the coconut sugar and I was pleasantly surprised that they are plenty sweet without the other 1/4 cup 🙂 I also ended up adding a few splashes of almond milk (I think my almond butter wasn’t well mixed and therefore a little too dry). I used 1 tbsp to measure out each cookie and they still turned out perfect. Thank you so much for the recipe! I’m sure it’s going to be used many more times in the future!
While very different than most snacks-in-a-box popular on the SAD (Standard American Diet), it only takes a little imagination and willingness to try out new things to discover a whole new world of healthy possibilities. For example, numerous healthy dips can be prepared with good fats and flavors from citrus fruits like lemons or limes as well as herbs and spices. Such dips can be enjoyed with simple raw vegetables or with chips made with starchy vegetables like plantains or sweet potatoes.

I popped one before my workout yesterday morning and it was perfect. I couldn’t get over how great the texture turned out. You must have tested them a lot to get the texture so perfect. Contrary to popular belief, our body’s preferred source of fuel is fat, not carbohydrates. Therefore, quality fats are an important part of the paleo diet. Fats won’t make you fat. Instead, they’ll encourage your body to burn stored energy and can even contribute to reducing cravings for sweet, carbohydrate loaded foods. The perfect cookie for a winter themed, “Frozen” themed or even a Christmas party. Kids love them, especially little girls that love the movie “Frozen”. They are made with only a few ingredients so they are pretty easy to make. I made mine by using a piping bag and a large star tip so you don’t need a cookie press unless you already have one or want to buy one. They are like a crisp butter cookie with almost a shortbread texture. The coconut palm sugar is the only sweetener that will achieve a crisp cookie. So don’t try to replace it with Honey or Maple Syrup.
6/30/16 update: I’ve been making these paleo chocolate chip cookies with chia eggs lately to make them vegan and they’re just as delicious! To make a chia egg, mix together 1 tablespoon of ground chia seeds and 2.5 tablespoons water. Let sit 5-15 minutes or until goopy like an egg. I’ve also tried these cookies using a flax egg but I didn’t like the taste.
The second my mom saw these, she immediately started making plans to hide and portion them. She has the same problem I do with, ya know, not eating the whole batch. In one sitting. She gushed over them, and asked me, “HOW do you do it??” And I’m like, “HOW do you cook so well?!” My mom thinks it’s the funniest thing in the world that she cooks savory food like a boss, and I pretty much exclusively bake.
If you’ve been missing dairy after giving it up, then So Delicious’ dairy-free yogurt alternatives made with coconut milk are for you. The unsweetened vanilla doesn’t contain any added sugar so mix in some berries and chia seeds for added sweetness and texture. Just note that the yogurt alternatives are made with brown rice so if you’re strict paleo or on a Whole30, these aren’t for you.
This is the first review on a recipe I have ever left, which is saying a lot. I’ve tried lots of Paleo desserts, and most of them aren’t good. These cookies really are great and probably the best classic cookie I’ve ever had, period. Wonderful flavor. The only thing I changed was I used coconut manna instead of butter. The only question I have is if this caused my cookies to not really fall much from the balled dough. They sort of held a ball like shape. I did try flattening them some before baking, but that seemed to make them slightly crunchier. Just wondering if anyone knew. Also, I literally ate 6 of these just now and I have never eaten that many cookies in one sitting…good thing they’re packed with great ingredients.
Shaping the almond flour/tapioca cookies. When you are nearly ready to bake the cookies, preheat your oven to 325°F. Line rimmed baking sheets with unbleached parchment paper. Remove the cookie dough from the refrigerator, remove the plastic wrap and using an ice cream scoop or two spoons, divide the dough into 14 to 16 portions, each 35 to 40 grams. Roll each piece of dough into a round between your palms, and place about 2 inches apart from one another on the prepared baking sheets.

As discussed in my article questioning nut consumption on a Paleo diet, macadamia nuts are probably the healthiest nuts available because of their high monounsaturated and low polyunsaturated fat content as well as their low levels of anti-nutrients. They can thus be enjoyed without guilt. This hummus recipe is great with anything where you would normally use regular hummus or Baba Ghanoush.
Hey Nichole! I do not recommend using coconut flour as a substitute for almond flour. Coconut flour absorbs significantly more liquid than almond flour and your cookies would almost definitely turn out dry. If you cannot use Almond flour I’d recommend trying tapioca flour or an all-purpose gluten-free flour although I haven’t tested either option so I cannot guarantee results. Bob’s Red Mill makes an all-purpose paleo baking flour but I am not sure if it has nuts or not. You should be able to substitute sunflower butter but if they can eat cashews I’d more highly recommend cashew butter as a substitution!
This step is actually optional if you do not mind having flecks of zucchini visible in your zucchini cookies! However, in my house, my kids would not approve of anything green in their cookies, so I always blend the zucchini with the other wet ingredients! I also really enjoy the texture of these paleo breakfast cookies when the zucchini is fully blended. 

Don’t let the fact that these cookies are Paleo make you think they don’t taste good. These are now my very favorite cookie! They taste like a legit cookie you would get at a bakery. Crispy on the outer edges, just the slightest bit soft and gooey in the center. And since there is no flour, the cookie has an intense almond butter flavor that I can’t get enough of.

I believe in parchment paper. It’s a DREAM for clean up and prevents burning. I hardly ever bake without it, and these ginger cookies are no exception. Some ginger cookies have a tendency to scorch on the bottom, and I’ve found that a light-colored baking sheet lined with parchment paper (or a silicone baking mat) is a fail proof plan for perfectly baked ginger cookies. (I think even Ina would approve.)

These fig bars have a lot going on, and your taste buds are sure to thank you for such a nice midday treat. At the same time they are loaded with healthy things like apples, peaches, and the figs themselves. They’ve removed any trace of grains, and are using coconut flour to put them into bar form, with just the right amount of honey to make these sweet but not overly so. The use of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger really balances out the flavor profile for these, and you can eat them between breakfast and lunch, or between lunch and dinner so they’re very good to have handy.

To ensure that you’re fueling your body with the very best nutrient-dense vegetables on the paleo diet, aim for variety by including as many different types of paleo-approved options as you can. Doing so will help to protect your body against a whole range of diseases including heart problems, high blood pressure and some cancers. They’re also a great food option that’s usually low in calories and will fill you up with gut-beneficial fiber for optimal digestion.
Funny thing about those macaroons? If not made with the correct type of coconut flakes, they become… just the thing you did not expect. Which can be quite a bit disappointing. See, if you make those macaroons with these small coconut flakes, you’ll make the most delightfully round, thick, and perfectly tall macaroons. But if you use large coconut flakes, they go flat. Like a thick, delicious pancake that’s actually a cookie. Made out of coconut.
FYI Scott Madden the Paleo diet is really just a general blueprint and most people just do the best that they can–some also just eat according to what they can handle or need and still consider it “paleo.” There are also many different options when it comes to protein powder (many people use pea, hemp etc) and not all of them contain wheat, soy, casein or whey.

These chips aren’t actually made from anything except the cheese. It’s asiago cheese, a hard cheese that doesn’t contain much lactose and is therefore looked upon as OK by some Paleo followers. If you know that you don’t process any cheese well you’ll want to take a pass on this one, but if you can handle it in occasional doses it’s worth it. The two ingredients are asiago cheese and rosemary, so it doesn’t get much simpler.
