Fasting for a predetermined period of time, shortening the eating window. Popular IF protocols include daily 16 hour fasts with 8 hour feeding windows, or weekly 24 hour fasts. Less of a “diet,” more of a philosophy. I think granola bars are pretty healthy so my kids and I eat them for snacks all the time. They aren’t just for breakfast anymore. These granola bars come together quickly and are so easy to make. Chopping the nuts is the most time-consuming part and you probably know that isn’t very hard. You can use whatever nuts you like or have on hand. You can forget the chocolate if you’d like.
I just made these with Stevia. I replaced all coconut sugar with about 1/2 tsp Sweet Leaf Stevia powder then tasted the batter before I divided & baked. I added just a hint more stevia because (true confessions) I LOVE SUGAR! I also went heavy on the vanilla because really, stevia has a little bitter aftertaste and the vanilla helps cloak that. These are delicious. I am expecting that the swap brings the caloric value of the cookie down by approximately 30 calories/cookie if the bath made 12. I only got 10 after sampling a few spoons (heaping) of the batter.

The basics of Paleo apply to Whole30: eat whole, unprocessed foods; avoid legumes, grains, and dairy (although Whole30 does allow ghee or clarified butter). Things that may be acceptable in a Paleo diet but not in Whole30 include alcohol, any form of sweetener, any legume-derived ingredients (including soy lecithin in packaged foods), and pseudo-grains such as quinoa. Whole30 also frowns on recreating grain foods, such as pancakes or muffins made with coconut flour or other grain alternatives, during the 30-day regimen.
These veggie roll ups are great to make ahead of time, and it’s a good idea to plan snacks into your day, rather than waiting until you get hungry and then frantically making something. Cucumber acts as the roll, and a tomato is the prize inside. Cashews act as a nice filling to help hold it all together, once they get blended up into a sort of paste. Olive oil, garlic, sea salt and basil are all Paleo goodies, so you can feel totally fine by having this as a snack anytime you get hungry and it’s not time for a full meal.

When we go to the movies, I find myself always bringing healthier snacks. That’s probably not much of a surprise though. Every once in awhile we will splurge on the movie popcorn, but usually I have a purse packed with my favorite coconut oil and sea salt popcorn plus a few of these paleo chocolate chip cookies. The fact that vegetable oils are still so prevalent in today’s world is a testament to just how aggressively they’ve been marketed, lobbied, and subsidized. But just because everyone else is using them doesn’t mean you should, and you most definitely shouldn’t if you’re planning on going full paleo (or Primal). The following oils are typically ultra-processed and pro-inflammatory on account of their high levels of omega-6 fatty acids.

These were absolutely delicious!!! Super quick and easy to make (Start to finish in <20 minutes). These were a big hit in our house. My husband, who was quite skeptical (and wondered why I was ruining good chocolate chip cookies, went back for seconds and thirds! The almond flour gives them a nice nutty flavor. Extra chocolate chips are recommended (increase from 1/2 to 3/4 cup in an entire batch if you like extra chocolate). Vegan friendly and gluten free. Super yummy-make these!!
Don’t let the fact that these cookies are Paleo make you think they don’t taste good. These are now my very favorite cookie! They taste like a legit cookie you would get at a bakery. Crispy on the outer edges, just the slightest bit soft and gooey in the center. And since there is no flour, the cookie has an intense almond butter flavor that I can’t get enough of.
Almond flour: Almond flour can often usually be replaced successfully with raw cashew flour. If you need to make these almond flour chocolate chip cookies nut-free, you can try replacing the almond flour with sunflower seed flour. They may take on a greenish tint, though, as the baking soda will activate the chlorophyll in the sunflower seeds, but it’s harmless.
Thankfully I baked just one first, and was able to alter the recipe in time. It was so crumbly and dry, it was a bit like sawdust. (My almond butter was not runny at all, and it was pure almonds.) I added an extra egg and a few tablespoons of honey, hoping to get some moisture, and that helped considerably.I wouldn’t call them fabulous, but a good cookie if you’re Paleo or the full GAPS diet.
These crackers are easy to prepare and it’s always a good idea to have a crunchy food around to munch on. These are very versatile, you can use them to scoop up any dip you create, or you can make a chicken salad and use them for that as well. They only have three ingredients, so it’s easy enough to keep stocked up and since it doesn’t take long to make these you don’t have to worry about storing them you can just make them as you need them so they’re fresh and crispy.

Allow to cool on the pan for 10 minutes, then serve warm or allow to cool to room temperature. These cookies can be stored at room temperature for 24 hours, but they will start to dry out if not stored in an airtight container. For best shelf life, I recommend storing them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Here’s a great game day dip that you can serve up and feel like you’re having a real treat. Use one of the chip recipes on this page to scoop up this flavorful dip. It’s a sure winner when bacon and bleu cheese join spinach and artichokes. It’s like taken a proven success and adding two more delicious ingredients to it. You may want to drop the bleu cheese if you know for certain that you can’t handle any cheese, but many Paleo eaters will make an exception for a bit of cheese on occasion.
OMG…These really are the best Paleo Cookies EVER! Never thought I would taste a cookie that even came close to the ‘real deal’ again, thank you sooooo much for sharing this recipe! Followed it pretty closely, just didn’t have the extra 1/4 cup of chips, and made them smaller than you suggested, so reduced the bake time to about 9min. They came out PERFECT! Chewy, sweet, deliciousness!
Because the density of almond flour varies brand to brand depending on how finely ground it is, you may possibly want to add an extra tablespoon or two of almond flour to your dough if you are using a different brand than the ones I’ve mentioned. If you’re nervous, you can bake a test batch with just 2-3 cookies and see how they spread. If they spread more than you like, add a bit more flour and give that a whirl.

They should be prepared carefully to remove some of the anti-nutrients such as phytic acid. Soak such grains in salted water for 8-12 hours, rinse and then cook well before consuming. Chia seeds also fall in this category. Buckwheat is the safest out of these.

I met Elizabeth years ago when we both attended a food blogger conference at Disney World. One morning, we ended up in the same ferry heading to the Magic Kingdom; as our boat chugged across the water, we chatted about our respective blogs. As soon as she told me she was a gluten-free baker, I asked if she’d ever dabbled in grain-free treats given the growing demand for them. So – these cookies. We’ll start with a description from Mariah, who lived in the room next door to me freshman year and hasn’t lived far from me since (even in London!). She’s one of my best friends, and let me note, she does not seek out desserts that are healthy or gluten-free or Paleo or any of the other things that these cookies are.
